FDA Approved Laser Acne Treatments.

Medical lasers have been used for dermatology applications for many years.  Common laser procedures include treatment and removal of port wine stains, sun spots, tattoos, acne scars and other blemishes.  More recently, they are being used for a growing number of cosmetic procedures including laser acne treatments.  Recent laser acne treatment research has had promising results.  Results vary based on the type of laser and protocols used.

All lasers marketed for acne treatment must be approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for such usage.  To market a product for laser acne treatment, the manufacturer must go through a rigorous approval process that includes results of clinical reasearch.  The research must show satisfactory results for the safety and efficacy of the laser acne treatment being marketed.  When considering laser acne treatment, it's important to know whether the equipment and protocols being used have been approved by the FDA.

To learn more about laser treatments, contact your local acne physician.
