Cosmetics

For decades, dermatologists have debated the effects of cosmetics on the skin, particularly in acne sufferers. While studies have shown that make-up does not cause true acne, it can exacerbate the condition. By helping to trap scale and sebum oil in the hair follicle, your cosmetics may actually be contributing to your acne condition.

The two most important points when trying to choose cosmetics that will not irritate your acne condition are finding non-comedogenic and non-perfumed cosmetics. Even when using oil free and perfume free products, some can still get acne breakouts. Some experimentation may be required to find those products that will not aggrevate your acne. For some, even non-comedogenic makeup can cause acne.
