Murad

The Murad acne treatment system is a commonly used over the counter acne treatment program.  The Murad program is a three step program that includes Cleanse/Tone, Treat/Repair and Hydrate/Protect.

In the Cleanse/Tone step, the Murad program relies on antibacterials and salycilic acid to get rid of acne bacteria. In the Treat/Repair step, Murad uses retinol, glycolic acid and azaleic acid to exfoliate the skin and get rid of acne causing scale. Finally the Hydrate/Protect step uses moisturizers and sun protection to heal acne prone skin. The Murad program uses acids to treat mild to moderate non-inflammatory acne.

For those with severe or imflammatory acne, an alternative acne treatment may be required.  For those that have tried and failed with a non-prescription benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid or other over the counter acne treatment plan there are other options such as prescription medications and laser treatments.
