Diode (1450 nm)
Diode lasers use a 1450 nm wavelength light beam
to shrink the sebaceous (oil) glands. Because overactive
oil glands are a primary cause of acne, this laser works by
shrinking the gland and thus lowering the oil production.
The properties of the 1450 nanometer Diode laser
light are such that the primary target for the intense laser light
is liquid. Consequently, the laser is most attracted to the oil
in the sebaceous glands. As the oil gland absorbs the laser energy,
it shrinks because of the intense heat thus lowering oil production.
The heat generated by the Diode laser also kills
p.acne bacteria
but the primary means for treating acne is shrinking the oil glands.
